Why are surfing wetsuits mainly the colour black and not bright colours?

Surfing wetsuits for adults are predominantly black because black neoprene naturally absorbs more sunlight, helping you stay warmer in the water. That extra heat retention makes a real difference, especially in cooler climates, which is why black neoprene remains the most practical colour option for surfers.

How can I clean/wash my wetsuit to prevent it from smelling?

To keep your wetsuit fresh and smelling great, the most effective method is to rinse it thoroughly with cold water as soon as you’ve finished your session. This removes salt, bacteria, and residue before they have a chance to build up and create an unpleasant smell. For a deeper clean, pair your rinse with a dedicated wetsuit cleaner such as Revivex Odor Eliminator Sachets – it’s designed to neutralise odours and keep neoprene hygienic.

It’s important to avoid washing machines and tumble dryers. The heat and agitation can seriously damage the neoprene, shorten the life of your wetsuit, and even void your warranty. . A simple cold rinse and the right cleaner will protect your wetsuit and keep it smelling fresh, surf after surf.

 

What is the best way to dry a wetsuit?

To keep your wetsuit performing at its best, the most effective way to dry it is inside out on a specialised wetsuit hanger. Modern neoprene is far more flexible and stretcher than it used to be, which is great for comfort - but it also needs proper support while drying to prevent damage.
 
By leaving your wetsuit inside out after you peal out of it from your surf and hanging it through the middle of a purpose designed wetsuit hanger, you will benefit from the following:
 
• Protects the shoulders from overstretching - when a wet wetsuit is hung by the shoulders, the weight of the water pulls the neoprene down and can cause permanent stretching. Using a specialised wetsuit hanger that supports the suit through the middle prevents this damage and keeps the shoulders in perfect shape for longer.
• Speeds up drying time, especially in thicker suits - which means if you’re planning to wear your wetsuit again the next day, the inside (the part that sits directly against your skin) will be significantly drier than if you hadn’t hung it inside out. That extra dryness makes your next session far more comfortable and helps keep your wetsuit feeling fresh.
• Extends the life of the neoprene.

Is it easier to put a dry wetsuit on or a wet wetsuit?

A dry wetsuit is always the easier choice. Dry neoprene glides smoothly over your skin because the neoprene isn’t clinging to you. Helping you get suited up quickly and comfortably so you can get in the water faster. A wet wetsuit, on the other hand, tends to cling, bunch, and resist which can turn the whole process into a wrestling match.
