Rash Vests

What is a rash vest?

A rash vest is usually made from a stretch polypro fabric or lycra however for colder water you can also get thermal rash vests. Not only does it add an extra layer of warmth under your wetsuit but it can prevent any irritation your wetsuit may cause and when worn by itself as a top it can also help protect you against UV Rays.

How should a rash vest fit?

A rash vest should fit snug as it needs to act like a second layer of skin. However you don’t want it to be uncomfortably tight or hard to move in but you also don’t want it to be loose that it can ride up under your wetsuit when in the water.

What is the difference between a rash vest and rashie?

There is no difference, it is the same item of clothing. It can also be called a rash guard.

Can a rash vest be worn for sports other than surfing?

A rash vest can also be worn for bodyboarding, paddle boarding, kayaking and open water swimming. Here at St.Vedas Surf Shop we also wear our rash vests for field sports such as under hockey or rugby tops to give extra warmth.
